About South Carolina Court Records

South Carolina court records are spread across 46 counties, with trial searches and original files tied to the court and county that handled each matter. Finding the right county, then the correct Clerk of Court, Probate Court, Magistrate, Municipal Court, sheriff, or statewide agency, is often the main challenge. We built this site so readers can reach the appropriate official portal, office, address, or phone number without treating one database as a complete statewide file.

Why We Built This Site

South Carolina provides broad access to many court records, but trial records remain local across all 46 counties. Circuit and Family files usually route to the elected Clerk of Court. Probate Courts hold estate and marriage-license records. Magistrates and Municipal Courts keep their own summary matters, while sheriffs manage local custody and warrant information. Separate statewide systems include the South Carolina Department of Corrections inmate locator, SLED CATCH criminal-history checks, SCDMV driving records, and Department of Public Health vital records. We bring those routes, contact details, official portals, and request steps together so a reader can identify the right custodian.

What You Will Find Here

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site. We have no connection to any South Carolina court, clerk's office, sheriff's office, or state agency. There are real limits to what we can help with:

  • We cannot file paperwork or send records requests on your behalf
  • We cannot issue certified copies of any court document or vital record
  • We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific case applies to you
  • We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, or address listed on this site is current right now

Only the issuing court or government office can provide a certified copy with an official seal. We can point you to the right office, but the document has to come from them.

Search Partners

Some pages on this site include search boxes powered by third-party providers. Those companies set their own pricing and run their own services. When you use one of those tools and it leads to a paid signup, we may earn a referral fee. That revenue helps keep this site free for visitors. We do not control what those tools charge or what shows up in their results.
